Much better than the other Chinese places in this area. It has reasonable portions and the food is ready quickly. The resturaunt is pretty clean and the staff is very polite. They even bring the food to you! Definitely go here over other Chinese if possible!

We've ordered from China City a few times now and we haven't been disappointed yet. Their sweet and sour chicken is really good. The chicken is some of the best I've had and I'd contest it probably doesn't even need the sauce. My one knock would be that their spicy food options aren't really that spicy. So if you're looking for something that's going to make you sweat a little bit, this might not be the best option. With that said, they're a friendly staff with some good food. I'd recommend them if you're ordering takeout.

loved China city. Perfectly cooked food. We've been looking for a good Chinese place since moving to round lake, we will be back.

Been coming here for years, and it was always decent Chinese food, till now. My god was it horrible. The hot and sour soup was so watered down it had no taste. The sweet and sour pork was terrible. I'm not sure if was real pork. Plus it was tasteless as well.

You won't find better Chinese anywhere in the area. They do a great job and the food is excellent and carryout is VERY fast! We recommend the Mongolian Beef!

This is a GREAT carry out Chinese restaurant. To us, this is the best Chinese carry out in Lake and McHenry counties. There are a few tables for dining in but this is pretty much carry out. We have served this great Chinese food to people throughout the country.

Food was great. The portions were huge. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because I was told my order would take 15 minutes. I had to wait 10 minutes extra inside the restaurant.

This is my preferred go-to Chinese food restaurant. While they wait can be painfully long at times and sometimes misrepresented (ie - told on the phone 20 minutes for it to take well over an hour). My sesame chicken is always great and hey, maybe I don't even know what good Chinese food tastes like. After all, I've never traveled to China.....But, anyway! HUGE portion size and the crab rangoon is fantastic. They must have gotten someone who understands English better since the previous reviews because, I have never had a problem conveying my order or having it understood. I'd be a 5 star patron if they would deliver!

Not worth the time !!! People don't speak very good English & my 30.00 meal turned into a 1800.00 hospital bill after I ordered a pork egg roll and was given a shrimp egg roll !!! Some people are allergic to seafood !!! Called several times ( after I got out ) but was told " no manager here " for several weeks .. this place needs to be closed !!!!!!!

Tried this place for the first time today, trying to find a good takeout place closer to home. Already not great, ordered moo shu chicken, put our order into our warming oven for hen and peck eating all day for New Year's, and now way later we realize there are no pancakes for the moo shu. You blew it, China City. I agree with earlier reviews. It sucks, but the order taker might need to be better with the local language. Make sure that you check your big order for EVERYTHING before you leave the store. An aside: They may want to run a mop around a few times an hour, and a sanitizing cleanser wipe over the tables about the same.

I work at a Hair Salon near this place and we order from there all the itme. We love it. I always get the steamed dumplings-- they are great. The food is not greasy and we never get the "belly ache after Chinese food" syndrome! hahh! seriously.

The food is greasy. The staff is surly. You're lucky they don't throw the crap at you as they serve it to you on paper plates. If the egg rolls are home-made then they've done a good job approximating frozen. Once I poured myself a cup of tea from the vat that sits--I'm not making this up--atop the garbage cans, and it came out as hot water with a slight brown tinge. I asked the woman behind the counter if I could have some tea instead of just hot water and she snorted at me and ignored my request. NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR EFFORT. Go to Long Feng on Rollins Road instead--they have wonderful food and a great staff!

I gave this 3 stars because the food is good, but the dine-in experience has MUCH left to be desired. They do a multitude of special requests (no veggies, extra sauce) which was nice. I can say after sitting in the booth waiting on a to-go order, I noticed the small things (dirty tables, dirty floors, dirty walls), so that did turn my stomach, since I always get it to-go, I don't worry too much about that. The place stays packed during dinner rush hour (at one point there were probably 10 to-go orders waiting in line). Great for fast, cheaper(er) take-out, but definitely take it home.

First of all, they have the address wrong. It's 1278 S RT 12 in Fox Lake, by the Dominick's. Second, I don't know what happened to Corin W. I have had take out from here several times over the years and never had a problem. This is a typical take out chinese restaurant. Has some sitting for dine in. Food is decent, and the price is reasonable.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
